La Societe, Paris

Named our City of the Year back in February, Paris continues to impress.

The newest destination del Mode, La Societe, nestled in the ample artistic bosom of Saint Germain de Pres, is an epansive restaurant-cum-jazz bar that combines dense British oakiness with a flurry of Parisian airiness.

With interior refinement from Parisian Design Stalwart, Christian Liaigre - owners Jean-Louis Costes and Alex Denis opted for classic over contemporary. The simplicity of the design however, along with the rich, chocolate pallet and the abundance of decadent materials sets La Societe high above archetypal design boundaries.

Art plays a dominant part in La Societe’s opulent façade. With photographic work from Peter Lindbergh, a marbled champagne bar from Sophie Lafont and sculptural work from Mathieu Lévy and Sara Favriau.

Along similar sensory lines, La Societe also provides diners with an impressive programme of live jazz performance. Judging by La Societe’s diverse agenda, even the most voracious of cultural appetites should be satisfied.
